The 16 cities on the daily schedule.

Nearest first, measured from the Brooklyn Center garage, with some of what we drive to in each.

The figure is how far the van comes to you, not what the ride costs — we do not bill the drive out. The buildings are places we drive to rather than partners of ours, and they are a sample: every house, apartment and clinic in between is an ordinary pickup.

Your city does not change the price.

No zone map, no suburb surcharge, no minimum for the far end of the metro. One formula, everywhere on this page.

  • $75wheelchair, one way, plus $3 a mile
  • $50ambulatory, one way, plus $2.50 a mile
  • 15 mithe one distance rule: past it, each mile adds $1

Miles are counted from your pickup address to where you are going — not from our garage. Living in Excelsior rather than Brooklyn Park costs you nothing until the appointment itself is further away.

Up to 3 additional riders come along at no charge from any of these cities, and cancelling more than an hour before pickup is free.

The rest of the seven-county metro.

The cities above are where the vans already are every day. The rest of the metro is a scheduling question, not a coverage one — same van, same driver, same rate per mile.

I was completely STUCK when my Metro Mobility ride canceled on me for a very tricky-to-get-into specialty cardiac appointment… TrueStar didn't just give me a ride — they gave me peace of mind.

Where Metro Mobility fits, and where it does not

Past the metro, anywhere in Minnesota.

Out-state runs leave from the same garage on the same day. The base fare never doubles and the $3 a mile never changes; past 15 miles, each further mile adds $1.

10 answers

Do you drive to my city?If it is in the metro, yes.

16 cities across the north and northwest metro are on the daily schedule: Plymouth, Maple Grove, Wayzata, Golden Valley, Excelsior, Eden Prairie, Rogers, St. Louis Park, Edina, Minnetonka, New Hope, Brooklyn Park, Coon Rapids, Blaine, Champlin and Elk River. The rest of the Twin Cities metro — Ramsey, Dakota, Washington, Scott and Carver counties, and everywhere in Hennepin and Anoka not named above — is served on request. If you are outside all of it, we will tell you on the phone rather than after you have booked.

Do you charge more for a far-out suburb? No zone fee. Ever.

There is no zone map and no city surcharge. A wheelchair ride is $75 plus $3 a mile and an ambulatory ride is $50 plus $2.50, whichever city you live in. Distance shows up as miles, and only as miles — past 15 of them each further mile adds $1, on the distance itself rather than on the suburb.

The rate card, in full
Do I pay for the drive out to my house? No. The meter starts at your door.

The miles between the garage in Brooklyn Center and your pickup address are ours, not yours. The fare is measured from where you get in to where you get out.

How long until a van can reach me?5–27 minutes across the daily cities.

Brooklyn Park is 5 minutes from the garage and Excelsior is 27 — off-peak road time, Brooklyn Center to city center. That is the drive, not the notice: rides are booked ahead by the appointment time, and the van is outside before it.

Can my pickup and my appointment be in different cities? That is most of them.

Almost nobody is treated in the city they sleep in. Home in Rogers, endoscopy in Plymouth, dialysis in New Hope — one booking, one fare, and the miles are whatever the drive between those two addresses actually is.

Do you go to St. Paul and the east metro?Yes — Ramsey and Washington.

St. Paul, Roseville, Maplewood, Woodbury, Stillwater, White Bear Lake and the towns between them. Nothing is added for crossing the river and the per-mile rate is the one on the card. It is a longer drive, so a trip that runs past 15 miles picks up the $1 extended-area mile — on the distance, not on the address.

Do you drive to Mayo Clinic in Rochester?Yes. $420 each way.

90 road miles, about an hour and a half. The base fare and the $3 a mile are the ordinary ones — only the $1 extended-area mile is added past 15 — and Duluth, St. Cloud and Mankato run the same way.

Long distance, priced
Are those cities the limit? No — they are the daily ones.

Those 16 are where the vans already are every day, so they are the easiest to book. The stated service area is the whole seven-county metro plus anywhere in Minnesota — Elk River is already over the Sherburne County line — and a trip outside the list is a scheduling question, not a coverage one.

Can you pick up from a hospital or a clinic?Either end. Any address.

A discharge is the ordinary ride in reverse: we come inside, meet you where the staff hand you over, and walk you to your own door at the other end. Give us the building and the unit when you book.

How early in the morning can you reach me?7am–7pm daily, earlier by arrangement.

A 6am dialysis chair in Golden Valley means a pickup before it, and that is arranged rather than refused. Tell us the appointment time and we work the pickup back from it — the published window is when the phone is answered, not the earliest a van moves.

Tell us the two addresses. We’ll say yes or no on the call.

If we drive it, you get the fare and the pickup time before you hang up. If we don't, you hear that on the same call rather than the morning of the appointment.
